Yusuf Abiodun Shodeinde is a South African based photographer, cinematographer and filmmaker whose unbridled passion for visual storytelling has brought him a long way in the visual industry.
After completing a diploma in Mass Communication at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Nigeria, Yusuf set his focus on the art of cinematography and visual storytelling founding Yuskolet Films in 2014.
A passion for photography found him at the Bodylawson School of Photography where he graduated with a certificate in portrait and digital photography. Wishing to hone his skills even further, he later relocated to South Africa to study Film and Television at the prestigious Oakfields College. While attending, his work was honored with the Golden Oak Award for Best Camera Operator in both 2017 and 2018.
The college wasn't the only ones to acknowledge his obvious talent. The following year would see his first short film, titled "Bad Blood", being entered as an official selection at the International Film Awards Festival in the First - Time Filmmakers Session category.
Amongst his other gigs and international affiliations, Yusuf's love for music has earned him good recognition in South Africa's music and movie industry leading him to create music videos with top artists and actors including Jamville, Mlindo The Vocalist, Focalistic, Airboy Rado,Money Mike SA, Rocapresh, Calm Lion and Bugga King. He has also worked as a photographer for South African actor Mduduzi Mnguni, whose TV credits include Generations : The Legacy, Uzalo, Isibaya and Imbewu : The Seed.
His experience in the streets of Lagos and the technical know - how obtained through studying and working in South Africa have not only taught him the intricate skills necessary in visual storytelling but have also taught him to always add the personal and human angle needed to make an audience connect to a story.
